Minneapolis Choir Collective (MCC) is a semi-professional choral ensemble that foregrounds contemporary works by composers from underrepresented backgrounds.
MCC fosters deep engagement with audiences through benefit concerts for organizations - past partnership organizations include the East Phillips Neighborhood Institute and Palestine Legal.
MCC collaborates with early-career composers, conductors, and singers to accelerate their careers through rehearsal and performance opportunities. More information on collaborating with MCC is available here.
Our ensemble is an inclusive LGBTQ+ community with 92% of singers in 2025 identifying as queer.
Minneapolis Choir Collective (fka Minneapolis Choir Co-Op) was founded in 2018 as the Minneapolis Madrigal Singers by Founding Artistic Director Alex Rack.
MCC has ranged in size from 12 singers to over 70. Our size fluctuates based on our project.
Previously focused primarily on madrigals, the bulk of MCC’s repertoire is now new works by composers from underrepresented backgrounds.
Other notable repertoire performed in the last few years includes Paul Winter’s Earth Mass, Howell’s Requiem, and a variety of works by our Composing Fellows and Collaborating Artists.

Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that the land now called the Minnehaha neighborhood in South Minneapolis, where MCC primarily rehearses and performs, is the ancestral and present-day land of the Dakota people. The specific band here was the Wahpekute.
Minnehaha United Methodist Church is less than 6 miles from Bdóte - the confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi rivers. It is a significant sacred Dakota landscape.
For more information on the Wahpekute band, please visit this webpage (History of the Wahpekute). We encourage further exploration and learning beyond this resource. The Native Land Digital interactive map shows which Indigenous lands you live on in the Americas and elsewhere.
